1. How long will the planning process take?

The Downtown Midlothian Visioning and Design Plan will take approximately 3–4 months for the engagement and analysis phases. This will include public input opportunities, site evaluations, and development of a ‘State of the Downtown’ document with preliminary recommendations.

2. Will there be opportunities for public input?

Absolutely! Community engagement is a cornerstone of this process. There will be multiple opportunities for residents, business owners, and stakeholders to share their ideas and feedback through public meetings, surveys, and interactive workshops.

3. How will this be funded?

Once the Vision Plan is complete, the Village will explore funding options for future improvements. These may include grant opportunities such as the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program (ITEP) and the Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program, as well as public-private partnerships and phased implementation strategies to ensure cost-effective solutions.

4. What amenities are being considered?

The planning process will evaluate a variety of potential improvements, including new public open spaces, placemaking initiatives, and enhancements to streetscape amenities such as lighting, seating, landscaping, public art, and pedestrian-friendly features.
